They are computed astronomically from the capital’s coordinates using a standard calculation method (shown on the page). They are typically within a few minutes of official timetables, but local mosques may round or apply small adjustments — always follow your local masjid for binding timing.
Which calculation method do you use?
We default to each country’s commonly-used authority: Umm al-Qura (Gulf), Egyptian Authority (North Africa), University of Karachi (South Asia), Kemenag (Indonesia), MUIS (Singapore), Diyanet (Türkiye), ISNA (North America), and the Muslim World League elsewhere. The active method is displayed under the times.
Why does Fajr/Isha vary so much by country?
Fajr and Isha depend on the sun’s depression angle, which differs by convention (15°–20°). At high latitudes the sun may never reach the angle in summer, so those times can be undefined.
Do you show times for my exact city?
These pages use the national capital’s coordinates. Times shift by roughly 4 minutes per degree of longitude, so a city far from the capital can differ by several minutes.
